What drive are you using to burn? What software? What's happening when you
try to write?

You will need a dvd-rw burner and some software. The software will come with
the burner and should have documentation containing instructions for burning
dvd's.

Are you using the correct media for your drive? If you really have a DVD-RW
(as opposed to a DVD+RW) then you must use DVD- media. DVD+ discs won't work
in a DVD- drive and vice versa. There is only one drive in existence (that I
know of), the Sony DRU-500A, that can utilise both.

As you don't give me enough information to work with I can only hazard a
guess, but I suspect you're using the wrong media.

Most utilities have separate program you must use to format a CD RW or DVD
RW.
I've used NTI before and didn't like it, because it didn't support my CD-RW
drive at that time, so I wouldn't know how to do this with NTI.
I use Nero and after purchasing it one can download a program called Incd
which after installing gives one the ability to format the disk so you can
use it like a hard drive. I use Incd on my Sony Vaio laptop's DVD-RW and it
works just fine.
You'd have to check out NTI's website for info on how to do this with their
program.

I can't find your model listed at the Sony site:
http://sony.storagesupport.com/

But it is listed as a supported drive with NTI 6:
http://www.ntius.com/support/supdrives.asp

From the FAQ's a full format must be performed before Quick Format can be
used.
