AutoPlay for Removable Devices

I cannot get AutoPlay to work with my digital camera.
I've tried playing with the AutoPlay settings in the
Device Properties and have had no luck. When I right
click on the device in My Computer, nothing happens. I
know the device works since AutoPlay works with my
notebook with XP.
Any suggestions?

The last time this descended on my laptop, I had to deselect the "always
use this program", remove the camera, reboot, and plug it back in.
Selecting a default action seems to lead to problems with my XP Home.
