Please help, Add hardware problems;

On a very new Compaq laptop with XP home installed I am
having problems installing a keypad. The issue is when I
click on the Add Hardware wizard a message comes up
saying something like; Cannot install two devices at one
time. another installation is underway and wait till that
is finished and the try again.
Looks like something is stuck somewhere somehow that it
still thinks it is installing a device.

Do you have any suggestions of how to solve this??????

Windows automatically installs the keyboard. If you have software that came
with it then install that separately in order to give it it's little
"goodies". My advise is to remove all instances of a keyboard in Device
Manager and let Windows pick it up again.
