Hi all,

I bought a new computer system with a ASUS P4S8X Mainboard and a ASUS V9180
Magic graphics adapter.
In Windows XP the setting for screen saver is 10 minutes, the settings for
monitor off is 20 minutes. After 10 minutes the screen saver appears. After
20 minutes the screen saver disappears, and the screen is black.

BUT:

My monitor (EIZO T68) does not switch into stand-by mode. (By using my old
computer, this worked fine) It seems, that the monitor still gets some
signal information from the graphics card.

Could this be a problem of an incorrect BIOS setting (I'm not very familar
with the BIOS)?
Does someone has another idea, where this problem could come from?

Regards,

Michael

I have the same problem with an NVidia MX440 chipset. On my old ATI video
card, when the monitor went to power saver mode, it shut itself right off,
and the chassis went cold. Now, with the NVidia card, like your Asus one,
my monitor goes to black, but the power is still on, and the monitor stays
hot. I think it's a different interpretation of DPMS support on the NVidia
family of graphics cards from the ATI group. I have to use the power switch
to truly shut my monitor off.
