I have a file on my desktop that will not stay deleted, i
will delete it, empty my recycle bin, and within around 20
mins it is back on my desktop. What can i do to get rid of
it completely?

Is it one of those files that links to a telephone dialler that some
websites are keen to download for you?

If so, right click on it and go to properties. Note the address it gives in
the box marked Target. It will probably end with .exe. Then use Explorer
or My Computer to delete the offending .exe file and then you should be able
to delete the shortcut.

Hi.

I'm having a similar problem. I've got a shortcut folder
on my desktop labeled ".bv bgv" and its contents mirror
my "My Computer/laura's Documents" folder.

When I delete the file from the desktop, it stays off the
desktop for that session, then reappears when I reboot.
The folder still appears in Windows Explorer/Desktop no
matter what I try (even in the same session). Since I use
Windows Explorer to locate my files, I would like this
useless ".bv bgv" shortcut folder to go away for good.

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

It always helps to give detailed information when posting a question. What
is the file name, and what extension does it have?
See Doug Knox's web site for a link to deleting undeletable files.

This issue is likely due to spywares, which gets
downloaded on to your computer unbeknownst to you. Get rid
of spywares using Adware program. Download from the below

Ad-aware will scan your system for unwanted program and

While on the subject of undeletable files, I have two the same - "Search
[1}."
The both have a folder-type 'icon' - not the normal type, but the same as
the folders in Start/Programs.
One resides in a folder OVERLANGJ, the other in OP8RSUBD.
Neither have any properties & their size is zero.
I can move the containing folders to any location I like, but cannot move
the files from the folders, or delete them.
The message is "Cannot delete file: Cannot read from the source file or
disk.

I've tried changing attributes, in Safemode & accessing them from a second
OS on another drive, but no success.

Does anyone know what they are and how to get rid of them?
