Hi
I have a recieved several \device\cdrom0 has bad block
errors on certain CDR's i've written to. It only occure
on my brandless CDR's after writting and not on JVC
CDR's . I can not see any visible markings or scratches
on the surfaces of the given CD's and as the drive works
fine with the JVC branded CDR's i doubt hardware error,
but everything is possible with a Time computer :P.
I was woundering whether these brandless CD's could be
more sensitive to the Laser =>i.e. does the drive need a
bit of maintainance doing.
Or cud the error be caused by exposure to direct
sunlight, bare in mind the write process worked fine.
Thanks

I've tried 5 of my unbranded CD's over the past few days
all have come up with the same error, where as several
JVC branded CDR's work fine. Plus my unbranded disks give
the same error on other machines.
So it must be the disks, i s'pose :(, i cant figure out
what damaged them tho, as i said before there are no
marks or scratches that i can see and if it is UV
exposure that doesn't explain the same effect on CDR's
from the bottom of the pile.

They may not be "damaged", but may have been inferiorly made.

Just a thought, but are you trying to burn overcapacity on the unbranded disks?
Nero for instance lets you overburn - you're not trying that are you?

I think that you have the answer in front of you.
Good branded CDs work, cheap unbranded don't.
The only time that I have been tempted to try cheap CDs, I has 3 that were
faulty 'out of the box'. Now, I only use only a select few brands.
