I just assembled a new computer based on p4 3.06 ghz and
asus PEP4 motherboard along with 120 gb western digital
hard disk. Installed win xp pro. System appears to be
running good but one thing is puzzling me. I wanted to
verify that ultra ata100 is indeed being utilized. What I
needed to see is under "advanced setting" tab at primary
ide under device manager. But there is no "advanced
setting" tab so I am unable to see info on pio or dma.
Would anyone know why I am not getting "advanced setting"
tab? Thanks.

Do you have the Intel Application Accelerator installed? IF so, it causes
the behavior you are describing. To see what the status of your IDE
channels are go to Start>Run>Intel>Intel Application Accelerator and it will
show you all yor settings.

Did you download the intel chip accelerator? That often disables the
advanced setting tab. The accelerator then handles the job the device
manager did.
