We reformatted a Compaq Presario 2525US from XP Home to
XP Professional. The battery will not charge. It's an HP
f4809a/f4812a - Compaq says it's a driver problem, but
they won't help unless we re-install the original OS. I
don't really want to do that for time's sake, but I'm
unable to find battery drivers anywhere.

Device Manager shows two drivers for the battery,
Microsoft AC Adapter and Microsoft ACPI-Compliant Control
Method Battery -- both appear to be functioning correctly.

Are there different drivers for the battery for XP Pro?
If so, where do I find them? I've tried Compaq, HP and
Microsoft to no avail.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello Anita

Well have you maybe considered buying a new battery just to make
sure because it could be a defective battery,

Alvin
