Network proble: Please help!

okay, I have two mac's an iBook and an iMac, I want to use my iMac with m
y compaq running XP Pro, I connected my iBook to my compaq to test r
emote desktop from the mac and got it working, so i unhooked my c
ompaq and moved it to connect it to my iMac, but my compaq says that t
he network cable is unplugged unless I plug my iBook back into it, so h
ow do i get rid of the ibook to compaq connection and create a network b
etween the compaq and iMac?
