What did you do when you tried to write on it? What
program did you try to use?

You need a program that can handle a DVD burner, such as
Roxio's Easy CD & DVD Creator (http://www.roxio.com) or
Nero 5.5.8.2 or higher (http://www.nero.com). These two
are the most popular.
