After deleting a file, I did a search to make it was
gone. The file I was looking for was not there, but came
upon a folder which is new to me. The folder is located
in C:\windows called \prefetch. And in the prefetch
folder is many files with the extension name as .pf (ex.-
DBD-HALLOWEEN.EXE-054FCD36.pf). This was screen saver
file which I deleted.

So it looks like a file fromethe screen-saver program is
still hanging around.

So is the purposr of the folder "prefetch". Anyone have
an idea? Thanks.

The Prefetch folder contains information for the optimal disk layout
of program files so they launch quicker. You may delete all those =
files,
but XP will rebuild that folder so that your computer runs as =
efficiently
as possible.
