I am running xp on a two year-old laptop. I want to update
my device drivers (esp. the Toshiba SD R 2002 cdrw/dvd
driver.)
Currently, the driver can play music CDs, read and write
data CDs. Does not play DVDs.
I've tried:

reinstalling WinDVD which came with the unit. zero.

Purchasing a third party driver. No go. ( Error messages
saying to change the refresh rate and screen resolution -
neither did anything.)

reviewing hardware manager. The device driver is 2 years
old. And I was asked if I wanted to update the drivers. I
said yes. (There were several new xp files and 4 device
drivers to upgrade.)

In the process Windows decided to update xp files first.

I can't seem to locate where I was when I got that
invitation to update my drivers -- or the web address it
was pointing me to.

help. please.
Thanks. My kid will be all smiles.

Hello Barry

Does that model laptop support DVD playback and are you
sure it is supported under that model laptop. That could be where
your problem is, maybe your video card does not support it
