View Full Version : Blue lines when booting - then nothing

I have Windows XP Pro installed on my PC and now when I
boot up my PC I see vertical blue lines up and down the
screen. My computer goes through the Win XP startup
screen but then will not display the desktop. Instead, it
goes blank and then flickers on and off with red graphics
on the screen.
Basically, I cannot do anything on my PC currently as I
cannot access any programs or even view the desktop. Even
my monitor goes in to its sleep mode on and off every 20
seconds or so as well.
If anyone has any clue whatsoever what this might be
please respond.
thanks

Sounds like either a broken monitor or a broken video card, or possibly even
a bad or improperly connected video cable. Check the video cable first. Got
another monitor?
It's also possible that you may have corrupted drivers or are driving the
monitor at a resolution and color depth it can't handle. Can you even boot
into safe mode?

I can not boot into safe mode currently. I checked cables
and video card and will recheck again. I have an extra
monitor I will check tonight as well.
