I am now in a real pickle. I had a lot of problems when I
got my new Pent4 ~2 yrs ago. They had installed XP-pro and
it crashed. I had to reinstall it 2 or 3 times before it
seemed to finally stabilize. It did crash 1 time about 10
months ago when I downloaded another "new update" from MS,
but I was able to use the restore feature for a date about
1 week earlier. I have not "updated" since.
It crashed again on re-boot last week. The msg.
was that I had a missing or corrupt "config.sys"? file. I
could not get back into windows. I finally reinstalled XP
keeping the same partitions etc. but under a C:\WINDOWS2
filename. This allowed me to start back up, and I
(thankfully) found that my hundreds of Digital pic's and
thousands of mp3's and all my other files are still intact
on the hard drive, but nothing else is operating
correctly. Every time I try to do anything, it sends an
error report, then stops the process I was trying to do.
My outlook express won't work (I it won't let me try to
reset an account) I can't get on line with my Verizon DSL
etc. etc.
I am "lost in the ozone again". I would deeply
appreciate any help I can get.
