View Full Version : XP on 110 GB Volume. OK?

I have put XP on my 110 GB C: drive (there is also a 10 GB D: volume). I plan to install many programs (applications, games, etc.) and possibly use most of the 110 GB. I understand that backing up may be a problem (which is ok from what I understand as I
have to reinstall the programs anyway if I reinstall the OS) . But I'm curious to know if there will be any other problems, i.e. performance lags or the like.
Thank you!

Hi Nicola,

Wouldn't be my preference, but you should be fine provided you are using
NTFS and not FAT32. A suggestion: Make two partitions, store data on one,
Windows and programs on the other. Should things go horribly awry and you
need to format and reinstall, then your data is safe.

By the way, you can reinstall WindowsXP without destroying everything by
doing a repair install. Bookmark this page should you ever need to:

That's about the best explanation of this sort of operation
that I have ever seen anywhere. Seems to be accurate,
inclusive, and understandable.

KUDOS to the author.
