Did you try checking your IDE channel controllers, not the DVD drive itself?

If you installed third party hard drive controller drivers, there is a good
chance that that functionality has been moved.

For example, if you have an Intel chipset and use the Intel Application
Accelerator, the advanced tab will be missing. Instead, they provide a
companion program from which you can change your DMA/PIO settings for your
devices connected to your hard drive controller.

You may want to look into that to see if such a case applies to you.
