View Full Version : Error 1618

April 19th 04, 01:45 PM
I have had MSN Messenger downloaded for quite some time.
I believe it's version 6.0, but I can't check because it
won't allow me in. I get a message telling me that I have
to download the latest version to continue, so I click OK
and it takes me through the download process. However, I
get an error message that says...

'MSN Messenger setup has failed with error code: '1618'.
Please go to the MSN Messenger Web site and dowload the
software from there'

I get the same results when I go directly to the MSN
Messenger website. For whatever reason, it won't let me
in to Messenger anymore, and it won't allow me to download.

I'm running Windows XP. I have tried downloading the
Windows XP version from the website, and I've also clicked
on 'International Users' and tried clicking on Canada to
download from there. Again, the same results.

I'd appreciate knowing how to resolve this.

Thanks.

Greetings,

Error 1618 means there's already an installation in progress -- you may just want to reboot
and try again.
