How do I stop a program from being automatically launched
at startup?

Dar,
The item that is starting up automatically can be in either one of two
places. First check the Startup folder.
Start - All Programs - Startup.
If the item is in here, go ahead and delete the associated icon and it will
no longer load on startup.
If the item you were looking for was not there, go to MSCONFIG and check
your Startup info. To do that.
Start - Run - MSCONFIG
When MSCONFIG opens, click on the Startup tab.
Identify the items you do not want to start on Startup, and uncheck the
box. Click Ok.
One of the two ways above should stop the program from starting up that you
are seeing.
Hope this helps.
Thx,
Nico

The best option is to check the program's own options for a way to turn this
off. Some programs will reinstate "run at startup" when they are executed,
if this option isn't disabled.
