View Full Version : Problem connecting MP3 player

I have recently bought an MP3 player which connects to my
PC via a USB port.

Although the system initially recognises that it is
connected, after a few moments it inevitably starts to
cause problems and when I have tried to copy files to it
using Media Player I get the following error message:-

the request could not be performed because of an I/O
device error

In addition whenever the MP3 player is connected to the
USB port it seems to cause XP to go very slow and
sometimes I can't even disconnect it.

The MP3 Player seems to work in all other respects, so I
am completely confused!

Any help anybody could offer would be great.........

Check for updated drivers for the device from the manufacturer. Did it come
with its own software? Does that work?

Yes it did come with software which we installed without
any problems but which also can't seem to find the device
when we have it plugged in.

I also got a chance to try the MP3 on another PC also and
had none of the problems I reported in my original
posting and it worked fine.

So, I'm thinking that there something wrong with the XP
on my other machine but have no idea what it could be as
the everything else seems to working OK.
