Cannot download pictures from digital camera

Since getting Windows XP I cannot download pictures from
my Olympus C2/D230. I had no problems with Windows 98 on
my old computer. But with XP I am missing the "Removable
Disk" which appears necessary to download the photos. I
have tried Olympus who seem baffled. I have downloaded
their patch, still no results. When I try to install with
the 'Scanner and Camera Wizard' it says "The computer
cannot detect the scanner or camera please make sure the
device is turned on or properly connected. And it's yes
to both of those.

Has anybody got any idea how I can resolve this problem
as my camera is virtually useless to me at the moment.

With the CAmera connected, check in Device Manager for any dummy devices
which have a yellow ! mark. If there is one, remove it and then re-install
the Olympus driver.

How are you trying to download the pictures?

I'm using XPPro and an Olympus E20N, and all I do is plug in the cable to
the USB port, open windows explorer, and there's the drive, from which I can
drag files to my hard drives.

How exactly are you trying to do this, and is your USB port working
properly? (look in Control Panel, System, Hardware)
