A short while ago I set up a user account
called "Supervisor" and also set up limited accounts for
my daughters.

Now when I turn on the computer, I am offered the option
to logon as one of my daughters, but the "Supervisor"
icon does not appear.

How do I get to this Icon, and logon as Supervisor??

Click Start, Run and enter REGEDIT Go to:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows
NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon\SpecialAccounts\UserLis t

Look in the right pane for a value called Supervisor. If it exists, double
click it and set it to 1 (one). If it doesn't exist, right click in the
right pane, select New, DWord value and name it "Supervisor" without the
quotes. Double click it and set it to 1 (one). This will force the account
to appear on the Welcome Screen.

I tried everything as outlined in Doug's reply.
Supervisor did not exist, so I right clicked and tried to
create it but I got the response, "CANNOT CREATE VALUE,
ERROR WRITING TO REGISTRY"

What should I do now?

Peter,

I was using the information you provided:

If you named the account something else, then use the name you actually gave
it. The Registry error comes from not having sufficient permissions on the
account you're logged on with. If you're running XP Pro, Press
CTRL-ALT-DEL twice at the Welcome Screen (with no users logged on) and enter
Administrator, and whatever password you may have set for this account. For
XP Home, you must boot to Safe Mode to access the built in Administrator
account.
