I am trying to install a USB device which allows me to
connect my wireless phone to my PC. the device is "Data
Cable for Nokia 3285 and 5185" purchased from Radio
Shack. it is not supported for my phone "Nokia 6340i"
from the hardware manufacturer: www.futurdial.com. when I
plug it in on my laptop running windows 2000, the device
will install and in device manager is listed under Ports
as Prolific USB-to-Serial Comm Port (COMM 4). The Nokia
software which I downloaded from nokia's site will not
recognize the phone when I tell it the device is connected
to the comm 4 port. I have also tried installing the
device on my desktop, which is why i was originally
posting this message, why can i get a driver recognition
for windows 2000 automatically, and not get one for XP.
can I use my 2000 driver for my XP computer? If so how
can I do this if new device manager does not recognize the
driver? I tried to copy the driver from the system 32 file
on my 2000 computer and getting new hardware manager to
recognize the file by selecting it during install software
from a specific location, and it won't recognize it. Any
help on any of the above would be appreciated.
