Paste Link option remains unavailable (grayed)

The Paste Link option remains unavailable (grayed)when
trying to paste a link with all software on my windows xp
computer. Any suggestions.

Could you please give an example of exactly what you are doing and in what
programs when trying to use Paste Link? You may even want to ask your
question in the newsgroups that address the specific applications involved.

Some quick notes:
Both programs - the program you're linking from and the program you're
pasting the link to - have to support linking. Example: The version of Paint
included with Win95, did not support linking. Therefore, you could copy an
image from it and then paste as a link. Also, the source for the link must
reside in a saved file. If the source file has never been saved, there is no
path available to paste to the recieving program.
