Windows XP Service Pack 1a

Hi,

I tried to install Windows XP Service Pack 1a (SP1) for the Home Edition.
After the update was carried out, I was astonished to discover that my
CD-ROM drive was no more recognisable by Windows XP. How do I go about
updating with Service Pack 1a and keep my CD-ROM drive visible after the
update. Any help will be appreciated.
