I'm going on a trip to Canada, most likely Vancouver. I
know that Canada has different power currents than here
in the good old U.S.A. But what kind of voltage would
they use there? I need to buy the right kind of power
adapter or else I could damage my computer and I can't
live off of battery power for 4 nights :-). Please Help,
this is urgent, because I need a laptop while I'm over
there.

My computer is a Dell Inspiron 2600.

According to this site Canada has the same standard as the U.S.

John;
Do you have all the necessary adapters for a trip to the USA?
If yes, you have what you need.

Hello John Doe, nice and original name you have there....

Because laptops are created for people who travel all atround the world most
adaptors have a small switch that you choose the voltage you want to use it
with.
Look at the manual or download the manual from the site of the laptop.

You are all a bunch of morons! There is no difference between USA & Canada
in terms of the electricity or the wall adapters.

Robert;
Your name calling is totally uncalled for.
Since you said "You are all..", it is all inclusive.
Perhaps you should read the posts again and enlighten your ignorance.
Also, everyone does not have your experiences so some may not know for
sure.
Some posters knew the equality between Canada and the US so your use
of the word "all" is clearly wrong.
If those that post correctly are morons, what does that make you now
that you are incorrect?

Jupitor,

I am not a moron too, since I gave information that was general for the
whole world. There may be others that will not go to Canada put to other
places that the voltages DO differ. This newsgroup is read by thousands and
gets achieved in Google groups.
So even though I did not have the information about Canada and usa voltage,
my answer was correct.

John;
They sell power adapters for Canada?
I think someone runs a scam.
I have lived in both countries and have absolutely no issues with any
of my electronic equipment bought or used in either country.
Like I suggested in another post, if you can use U.S., you are good to
go in Canada.
