Hi Bernie and All,
Thanks for your reply - it sounds like you summed up my situation very well.
I am using MMC 7.7 and I have stored all drivers and MMC's that go back to
7.0
Is it worth me "rewinding" back to an earlier version?
I cannot kill the MMC tasks with Task Manager - it remains and if I do
manage to kill the MMC GUI the TV
sound remains (as you inferred) that I can only kill with a restart - and
this problem occurs 100% of the time
What disturbs me - if this program is so ineffective under XP, why isn't the
"graphics world" up in arms over a major developer remaining to be
incompatible with XP which is now nearly 2 years old !!
Regards Ron H

One thing that has helped me on this 98SE machine is to set the operating
system to unload DLL's directly.
You can do this on XP with Xteq's X-Setup tweaking utility.
http://www.xteq.com/
Or you can find a web site that details how to do this by manually editing
the registry.
Just search for "unload DLL's directly and you should find something. This
forces the OS to unload DLL's after a program is closed instead of hanging
around in memory in anticipation of the next time you might start the
program. Unfortunately this setting forces this tweak globally upon all
applications the system runs. I'm not sure how much it will help on an XP
machine though as my XP notebook only has a Radeon in it and doesn't run
Atimmc.exe so I've never had to try this setting on it.
Earlier versions or at least all the one's I've tried did the same thing so
it probably won't help much to install an earlier version.
You might try the folks over at Rage Underground they have a forum for the
All in wonder Radeon and might have more input but the last I checked they
didn't have a clue either.

Actually it's not just XP it does this on all Microsoft Operating Systems.
It's just one of those things we'll have to wait for ATI to Fix I guess.
They are going to update it however there seems to be a question about
whether they will charge for the update. The next version is supposed to be
8.1.
