I just replaced my P4 2ghz processor with Intel
Motherboard with a 3ghz processor and Intel Motherboard.
XP now wont start in regular or Safe mode. In safe mode
a list of drivers flashes by and the system restarts
again. I've reconnected my HD to the old Motherboard and
it boots fine. I've attempted to remove the HD
controller drivers to see if that resolves it and it
doesnt. Nothing seems to allow me to boot completely
with the new Motherboard.

Any thoughts??

Thanks!

Hi James

After a major hardware change, such as the one you have completed, you will
at least need to do a repair install (also known as an in-place upgrade).
This will reconfigure XP to suit the new hardware.

For details on this procedure see the following Knowledge Base article

How to Perform an In-Place Upgrade (Reinstallation) of Windows XP
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=KB;EN-US;Q315341&ID=KB;EN-US;Q315341

After doing this you may need to re-activate your installation of XP. If it
has been more than 120 days since you last re-activated you should be able
to activate over the internet, otherwise it will require a short phonecall.

After the repair install you will need to re-install any XP service packs
and updates.

The other alternative is a clean install of XP.

Hope that helps
Pete

Boot from the XP CD rom and do a repair install. Your old hard drive is
booting up looking for the old PC.
