I want to remove most of the itmes in the menu bar under
File\new. Anyone know how to do this?

The items can be removed by editing the registry. For more information see:

Before you edit the registry I recommend that you understand how to backup, edit and
restore the registry. For more information see the following Microsoft Knowledge

export the keys that you plan to edit.
