job in XP spooler hanging

Win XP SP1, all current patches.

If the connection to a printer is cut off and I want to print, the job
remains hanging in the spooler with error, even if the connection to the
printer exists again. The following jobs are not printed. Deleting the
incorrect job makes the next job hanging with error. Reboot does not help.

Only after deletion of all jobs and restarting the Spooler I can print
again.

Are there better solutions, about that I only have to delete the first job
for printing the next ones?

I removed all printer drivers cleanly and installed only one, but does not
help.

Anybody can help?
