I am using Windows XP SP1. However when i plug my new
USB 2.0 64MB flash drive into my MSI intel 865P Neo
chipset, i receive the message "Hi-speed USB Device is
attached to a non Hi-speed USB hub". Although the flash
drive can work, it can only work at USB 1.1.

what could be the problem? I've tried re-installing SP1,
I've also tried uninstalling the UBS controllers
in "Device Manager" and letting SP1 detect them. All of
them failed.... I've also tried every one of the 6 USB
ports, all of them gave me the same message.

I need some help...
Thanks a lot!

Not familiar with the MSI hardware you're talking about, so i will only tell
you my convoluted experience with USB2 and flash pen drives.. I bought a
cheapo add-in PCI card for USb2 that had a VIA chipset.. It worked but with
the same message you are getting.. I also have SP1 installed, so that wasn't
the problem.. on a hunch, i bought another PCI card made by Belkin for
$39.95, installed it and XP rebooted, all devices working at full speed and
no more messages... The new card has a NEC chipset which sems to be the
difference, since Microsoft Knowledge base sez they support the NEC standard
for USB2 (this was prior to USB2 being well deployed)..
It was the hardware , dude.
