Open File

[MLH1]

On upgrade from MS Office97 to WIndowsXP I find that I
cannot select a file by typing the first few characters of
the file name in the Open > File "File Name" box.

I looked in the Tool > Options section, but did not find
anything that references the autoselect feature for files
in the My Documents directory. I did see the File
Locations > Modify option. But nothing in it suggest that
I can alter the search for the "file name" entry.

I would like to be able to use this feature to speed up
file selection / open task.

Any suggestions?

I assume you are running Office XP in spite of your reference to WindowsXP.

Use wildcards *boo* to find any files with boo in the name.

i.e. myworkbook.xls will be found with *boo*
