Copying XP partition

I am trying to copy an XP partition as part of a hard disk
upgrade using Partition Magic 7.0. I copied the partition
but when I try to boot the new drive, I get "cannot load
ntldr"

If I go to recovery console, it asks for a password
although I have never set one up!

PLEASE HELP!!

Doesn't the new drive have an utility. Also, Partitition Magic is up to 8.1
now.
