For some reason, every time I click the little button
that opens the CD rom thing where you put your cd in, it
doesn't open. I've tried restarting and pressing eject
from my computer, but it still won't open... can anyone
help?

Hello
Well it's possible that you have a defective cdrom driver and
you need to replace it ok.

The tray on a CD Rom device works on a little tiny plastic cog. Over time,
the plastic teeth of this cog wear out. Then the tray won't open. There
should be a tiny little hole on the faceplate into which you can insert a
straightened out paperclip (or similar). This will spring the release
mechanism so you can retrieve any CD that may be stuck inside.
It is not economically viable to replace the cog.... purchase another CD
drive.

This happens when the user closes the CD tray by pushing on the tray instead
of using the button to close the tray as well as open it. The gears that
control the opening and closing of the tray are plastic, and are easy to
misalign. It is not cost effective to replace the parts. Buy a new drive,
and use the same button to close the tray. Your new drive will last years
if you follow this simple little tip.
