my computer originally came with win 95. after upgrading
some hardware (memory, etc), i upgraded the s/w to ME. i
encountered a bunch of problems and have purchased XP. i
wish to format the C drive and load fresh, but am not
allowed to do this, even if i put format.com on a floppy
and attempt to run from A:

i also tried a "fresh" install of XP, assuming it would
either auto format C: or ask the question, but it did not
and all the junk is still there (along with my problems,
i'm sure).

HELP!!!

Hello

Here is what you do
1. Go into your system Bios
2. Make your cdrom the primary boot device
3. Insert cdrom in the drive reboot pc
4. You will be asked to boot from cdrom, say YES
5. Follow the steps on what it says to do.
6. You will be asked to delete the partiotion, choose your option
7. You will get to a point where is ask you to format (choose NTFS)
8. XP will format and load, and your on your way

Please include more information on your hardware. Since it came with win95
it makes me think it is old. You will probably spend more money and still
have an old computer. Sounds like it is the computer not the software.
