folders with jpg and tiff files

after a recent hd crash i reloaded XP pro on my Compaq
laptop. now any folder that has picture files such as jpg
or tiff files takes forever to load and show up in win
explorer. looking at the same files in Adobe Photoshop or
Fuji Finepix viewer there is no problem with the files
coming up quickly. The win explorer windows sometimes
crash the system if they are trying to show the image
files. the problem exists no matter which view is
chosen. even with "details" chosen it still takes for
ever for all the files to show up.
i don't have the same problem with folders with other
file types.
any help would be great
