Thanks in advance to those reading this. I hate to burden
others with such a long post, but i actually have 3 (non-
fatal) questions that i would like to address.
I have both Windows XP Home Edition and Windows 2000
Professional (Chinese version) installed on my computer in
a multi-boot configuration, which both work fine overall.
1. In both 2000 and XP, when i double-click an icon to
start a program (it does not seem to matter which), I get
an error message that says "There is no floppy in drive A;
Please insert a floppy", or something to that effect. The
programs don't have anything to do with the floppy drive.
Paradoxically, when i click cancel, the computer then goes
ahead and executes whatever command i wanted it to.
Disabling the floppy controller in Device Manager
apparently makes the problem disappear, but why is this
happening in the first place? is it my floppy controller
or my actual drive?
2. in Windows XP (so far), when i open a folder,
oftentimes the top half of the screen blurs and runs
together, but the lower half is fine. "Refreshing" the
screen cures the problem. I have an ATI 3D Rage Pro AGP 2x
video card, and Windows did not let me install drivers
from the original CD (i.e., the "best" driver seemed to be
that included with Windows). Is there something wrong with
my video setup?
3. Are there/Do I need to add updated device drivers for
my Crystal SoundFusion sound apparatus? i can hear sounds
alright, but in several of my mp3s there seems to be an
abnormal thumping or "rolling" background beat that is
obviously not part of the song.
I really appreciate any help that anyone can give.
