Running xp pro and system slowed to a crawl.

Sounds like it's the anti virus. it is always running in
the back ground. scans all file and programs that you
open. disable the anti virus and try operating your think
pad while the anti virus is disabled. it should return to
normal operating speed. then enable anti virus and it
will slow down again. i think it's the anti vrus that is
slowing down your computer.
