Check to see if USB is enabled in the CMOS or BIOS setup.
If so, try copying the USB driver files from another XP
system (with SP1) to overwrite the ones are your PC,
they're probably corrupt.
See my "USB joystick not detected" post for more details
on how to do this. Just look for the USB human interface
device in the Device manager instead of the joystick
entries stated in my post, and use its driver files
instead.
