CD Rom Drives Missing

I have a CD writer drive and DVD drive and neither are
available on my computer (under My Computer, hard drive
and floppy present, no CD drives). These worked fine for
years, how do i get them back. Loading a CD with autorun
does not work either. Any help would be great.
