I have the following configuration and dont know where
the problem is.
1.AMD 2000XP+512RAM +40GB HDD+WindowsXP-SP1
2.Canopus ADVC-100 analog to digital converter Firewire
400mbps http://www.canopus.com/US/products/advc-
100/pm_advc-100.asp
3.Lacie 200GB external HDD firewire 400mbps
http://www.lacie.com/products/product.htm?id=10022
4.Belkin USB 2.0+Firewire Combo card NEC OHCI1.1
compliant chip .

Problems.
1. WinXP reboots when viewing a clip during editing
session.
2. WinXP reboots when scrolling through the long clip
list in clip mode or timeline mode.
3. Turn on the DV converter and WinXP reboots.Sometimes
VideoStudio doesnt recognize the DV source.
4. Sometimes it does not reboot but takes the external
HDD offline from explorer.
5.if the ext. HDD is turned on before WinXp start it
keeps rebooting before reaching the login screen.
6.Turn on the ext HDD after a WinXP startup and it
reboots.
I checked out the Device Manager and all the
participating devices work individually. The Firewire is
being shown as NEC OHCI 1.1 compatible controller. When I
connect the disk it show SBP2 device, when I connect the
canopus DV converter it shows DV cam.
Only when videostudio uses all the components together I
face the music.
I tried uninstalling the NEC OHCI controller from device
manager and then run Driver Wizard which initializes the
devices then I notice the SBP2 device,IEEE 1394 Network
adapter and the DV cam pop on the icon task bar. They
individually seem to be fine and they are brand new
products purchased a week ago.Their combination with the
Videostudio seems to be deadly.
I believe the problem is with Windows XP doing I/O with
the IEEE 1394 devices so I checked the driver versions

iomdisk.sys 2.0.2.5 Iomega Corp
PartMgr.sys 5.1.2600.0(xpsp1.010817-1148)
God knows where the problem lies. All I wanted is to
create a home video for my kid.
I would like to know if anyone has come across similar
situation and know any workaround.
