Hi,

When installing any of the more recent versions of Windows
(9x, 2000, XP), there will be a blue screen that gives you
control over partitioning. Unfortunately, you have to make
the actual decisions about specific partitions.

And yes, if your data isn't backed up in some form, it
will get deleted when you "fresh install" an operating
system (any operating system, actually).
