My slave drive (FAT32) was not detected during bootup
today. System halts. This drive has worked just this past
few days ago. Opened the case and its has power source
because its spinning. I can feel the rattle.
Question: How come WinXP all of sudden has failed to
recognise this drive via cmos(auto detect) when over the
past weekend it was fine. I did download from Maxtor some
utilities but this does not help since the was not detect
during bootup. Now what??
I have Asus MO(A7V-333X) and AMD1800. Does my bios need
to be updated? Iworked before, fine.
Any help appreciated.

Is your bios recognizing the drive or is it just the operating system not
recognizing the drive?

My Bios does not recognize the drive. I did receive
error" secondary drive fails". Having talked to several
buddies, it seems my drive is toast. Now I need to figure
out to partition a new drive I will pickup tomorrow. I
think its thru disk management and then must I format too?
