Thanks for your response regarding my query.

The wheel is connected via the gaming port and has been
added via the gaming options and although most of the
functions work correctly the brake pedal does not. When
calibrating the red bar chart does move up and down as
required but in the game the brake reacts like it is
perminately depressed, either that or it doesn't work at
all. I have calibrated the wheel both through Gaming
Options and MTM 2 but with no joy.

Any other suggestions would be gratefully apprieciated.

Regards,

Ian.

Hi Ian,
You should be able to get htis device working by
adding it using Gaming
Options in the Control Panel. This device should be a
gameport device
though, not serial.

1. Connect your wheel to the gameport of your sound card.
2. Start -> Control Panel -> Gaming Options
3. Click Add...
4. Highlight "Microsoft SideWinder (Auto Detect)" from the
list and click OK

Let me know if that doesn't help.

Ian,

MS has discontinued support for all its gaming devices and is no longer
working in that field (except for XBox). There are is no XP driver and is
never likely to be. Your only choice may be to purchase another wheel from a
company that is still producing such devices (Logitech for example).

This is not entirely true. While active development isn't=20
being done on the driver the drivers are both in Windows=20
XP. For the newer USB devices that would have used 4.0=20
software just plug the device in and it will work,=20
including the Keymapper software. For the older gameport=20
devices that used the 3.02 software just add hte device=20
in the Gaming Options control panel as "Microsoft=20
SideWinder (Auto Detect)" they will function but will not=20
have any keymapping abilities.
