I have windows XP on a 6gb Fat 32 drive. It says that
the drive has got 3.01 gb used. Yet when I drag around
all the files(and hidden ones) The computer says 1.83 gb
actually on disk. So to make it short, Where has that
1.18 gb of my hard drive gone???

A file on the drive may take up 4 sectors but is actually only 3.5
sectors in size. More data can't be written to the 4 the sector.
If you right click on a file and click on properties you'll see two
items, size of file and size on disk.

A big chunk is used, by default, for XP's restore area.

Into hidden and protected mode files. Take Folder Options - View, and
select 'show hidden files' and uncheck 'Hide Protected . . .files'
