I have an Sony CDRW CRX195E1 which was working just fine
up until about a month ago. I am running XP Home edition
which says the device is working corectly and nothing is
wrong with it. Once I place any type of media into the
drive whether it be audio cd out the store or burned,
Program media, setup application cd's whether
manufactured or personally burned the CDRW drive doesn't
recognize anything being in the drive at all. Windows
Explorer generates an error message to insert media into
the drive. Nero burning rom which is all I have been
using for the last 3 years with this very drive when it
comes to the actual burning process keeps asking for
media to be inserted even if a new CDRW or CD-R disc is
in there already and the burn fails everytime. I tried
updating my aspi layer, no help. I tried upgrading the
CDRW Sony firm ware, did not help. I even tried restoring
my XP instalation alltogether and that didnt even work. I
am desperate, in dos mode the drive is seen and
functionable. Please if any one can help me It would be
greatly appreciated. And out of joy, I will help spread
the word on this hidious, nerve wrecking situation.
