Disk Clean-Up problem

[Helios]

I'm having a problem whenever I run Disk Clean Up. It use
to work fine, but I noticed it took longer and longer to
finish the initial calculation of the compressed files
before it got to the screen that showed the break down of
what would be deleted. Now it doesn't get passed the
first initial calculation at all....it kinda just freezes
or stalls on me. Is there a way to fix it so that I can
continue to use Disk Clean up...or is there another way to
delete all that stuff so that it doesn't bog down my disk
space.
