View Full Version : shortcut keys not working

i'm using windows XP Pro svc pack 1.
i've tried using the solution described in help docs and in
knowlegebase article 310417...
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;310417
and none of they key combos i've tried will work. i'm not
trying to using anything other than CNTRL + ALT and a
letter key.
after applying and saying ok in properties window, i try
keyboard shortcut and get no response at all. no error
message even.
i will try it again without any non-microsoft svc running
to try and see if something else is conflicting with this
functionality, but since this would be a dumb way to have
to use that function, i thought i'd ask here first in case
someone know how to deal with this problem. thanks.

Do you have arrows on your shortcuts.

well, the shortcut i'm trying to do specify a shortcut key
for is on the Taskbar, and no, that little icon doesn't
have an arrow on it. but i'm not sure how that's relevant?

The shortcuts need to be on the start menu or desktop.

>>but i'm not sure how that's relevant?
The reason why David may have asked that is, there is a known issue (if =
you have removed teh IsShortcut value in the registry, in an attempt to =
remove the shortcut arrow).
