can't get xp pro to partition my hardrive using the setup cd

I am trying to create a partition on my hd using ntfs.

I have attempted to delete the active partition. So i
can then create two hd. The system does not allow the hd
to be delete using the setup software. How can i can get
the setup to let me partition the hd.

Are you saying you booted from the XP cd
and tryed to delete the partition during setup?
What error message do you get?
