View Full Version : Screen Scream

Hi

Recently When using my computer My Monitior (TFT) just
goes totally blank. I have to then switch the monitor off
for 5 minutes and then switch it back on. This usually
solves the problem for about 10 minutes. Is it broken? It
is not even 1 year old.
Also can you suggest anything to clean the screen with.
Please help
Thank you

Hi:
Sounds like an overheating component. If it's less than 1 year old, it may
still be under warranty. Check with the vendor or manufacturer. As far as
cleaning the screen, consult your owner's manual. Most have a section
regarding care and maintenance.

Hi thank you for your help. Is there anything to stop the
overheating or should I just consult the people I
purchased it off.
Also I am unsure if the way I use my monitor is correct.
I always turn the whole computer off including the
screen, should I leave it on. Rather than keep turning it
on and off.

I very much agree with randwulf57. I also think that you
should consult the folks you got the monitor from. And
finally, I don't believe that you're hurtin anything by
switching the monitor on and off constantly. Millions of
people do it and not many people have had a problem since.
(By 'millions of people,' I'm refering to myself, and
maybe ten other people. But we haven't hurt anything yet!)

Turning the monitor off definitly should not hurt it, the monitor gets reset
all the time. If it's under warranty (it should be) have it
repaired/replaced.

Hi:
Consult the vendor re: warranty status and repair or replacement. Switching
the monitor off/on should not cause problems.
