How can I get windows xp to recognize a cd-rw as a
writable disk. Every time I put in an rw disk windows
tells me it is a full disk and cannot write to it.

Hi Greg,
Right-click the drive in Windows Explorer, choose properties. On the =
recording tab, make sure that it is enabled for this drive.

XP will burn to CD-R/W but writes to them as though they were CD-R's. The
exception being that XP will allow you to erase a CD-R/W however individual
files can't be deleted.

Michael you are wrong. Just to make sure I placed a CDRW in my drive with
some files on it already. I selected 25 jpgs and added them to the disc and
voila, they are there.
Greg may want to check and see the properties of the drive and see if the
drive is set up to write to RWs. The one option he will have to check is to
make sure the speed is set to only record as fast a the Rw is rated for.

How did you add files to a cd that already had stuff on it
with windows xp native support? The native support
doesn't allow packet writing. It only makes all the cds
act like cdrs, 1 time writing unless you erase the disk.
Do you have any other burning programs on your system that
allows this drag and drop feature?

If the drive supports it, XP will do multisessions. A lot of overhead with
multisessions though. The TOC is rewritten each time and will eat up space
on the disk. Better to wait until you have enough files to fill a CD.
For more info about XP's CD burning, see MVP Alex Nichol's article:
